About Richard Gleeson
In 1994 after completing second level education I left Tipperary to attend college in Dublin specialising in Motor Industry Management. In 1998 I gained a Diploma and soon got employment with a Commercial Vehicle Repair and Sales company through this company an opportunity arose in the UK to import Starter Batteries to Ireland from a newly refurbished Battery Manufacturing plant in Rotherham Yorkshire, Hi-Volt Battery Company.
I formed Hi-Volt Ireland Limited in 1998 to import these batteries and distribute throughout Ireland. In 2000 the factory closed. Through contacts I made in the industry I started importing batteries from South Africa.
Since then Hi-Volt has expanded to import all battery types and chemistries from around the world. We now have 6 Locations throughout Ireland and the UK, involved in Battery Sales, Repair and Recycling.
We began repairing and researching Lithium packs in 2015, this lead to me forming the Company Li-Gen Limited to Manufacture Large Lithium Batteries. With the assistance of the Government Agencies, Local Enterprise and Enterprise Ireland We now are fully operational here in Tipperary.
